Notes: Why do governments in some countries rule through democratic means and others through authoritarian systems? Why does the frequency of democracies vary across different parts of the world and different historical epochs? What factors account for the relative stability of regimes in different countries? Under what conditions do regime change? D&D explores these and other questions on democratic and authoritarian regimes by looking at historical and also current examples. Course meets in person
